| - Most of the time I try to write reviews on the places I loved, but sometimes you need to write a warning to your fellow yelpers.
It's a nice looking dental pratice close to home with some awesome reviews so I thought I would give it a try. I went in for a cleaning, and I wont lie it had been a while since I am honestly petrified of the dentist. I have anxiety just thinking about it. When I talked to the staff on the phone they were extremely nice and told me there was nothing to be afraid of.
The visit started off with the hygienist taking photos and radiographs followed by dental mapping to decide what cleaning was necessary.
Before the cleaning they made me pay for it which I thought was weird. They said it was X amount over what my dental plan would cover so I would need to pay before they started the cleaning. The cleaning happened without issue (besides me being white knuckled in the massaging dental chair). Then the DDS came in telling me the list of stuff that I needed. I didn't think it would be much, I hadn't had any issues with pain or sensitivity but he found three spots on xray that appeared weak and should have fillings done. Then he also told me I needed a floride treatment, which of course they make you pay for before they apply it. It made me feel like they only care about money.
So I scheduled the fillings and that was my biggest mistake thus far. They gave me a prescription for valium ahead of time for me to take (honestly I had 12 baby teeth removed as a child and it was traumatizing, as I explained to them it's not the procedure it's the novocaine shots). Well the valium didn't kick in till halfway through the procedure. So of course I'm there white knuckled in the seat, not crying intentionally, but tears streaming down my face as I got the novocaine shots. I told him one side of my face was numb but the other wasn't yet, he still tried on the side that wasn't numb anyway till I let out a shriek.
This of course wasn't the bad part, they couldn't help that the valium didn't kick in, I understand that. It was the care after the procedure that was awful.
They said tooth pain is normal after the procedure, and to give it 5 days and they might have to do a bite adjustment. I gave it a full week of being in pain before contacting them. I tried contacting them because it was getting close to Thankgiving and I would lime to enjoy some food. I tried calling but the phone calls went to voicemail, where I left two, when those went unanswered I tried emailing (they do mention that is the best way to get a response), where I got a response 2 days later when I was already out of town for Thanksgiving, but I never got a response from my reply. When I got back I made another call to make the appt, of course it went to voicemail but that one was answered, they got me in that day.
I explained the pain and they did a bite adjustment, which they told me about when I got the fillings done. I wasn't upset that I needed one, more of the fact that I had to been in pain longer than I should have been since they do not respond in an appropriate amount of time. He also told me that I should be using sensitive tooth paste, waxy floss, and using mouth wash and that was part of my problem. I explained to him that I have been, except I was in too much pain to floss where the filkings were done.
You would think the bite adjustment would have cured it. I was told it would take 3-5 days for the bite adjustment, so I waited and on day 6 I called, of course it went to voicemail. So then the next day I emailed. A few days later I emailed again.... of course no response. Today I called at 2am, stating what I did in the email, that the pain is waking me up at night and is worse than before the bite adjustment. Finally someone called me back. I asked for my records to be sent to a different dental office so I vould go for second opinion. The office lady who I was talking to was understanding of why I was so upset, and stated multiple times that it is her first day but she has been working in the dental field for the past 5 years. She told me it would be best to follow up with him since he is the one that did the procedure. I will go to one last visit to see if he will fix the problem, but I have already scheduled an appointment at different dental office who assured me it is not normal to be in so much pain following a routine filling.
If I could give them zero stars I would. I'm more just upset with the lack of response. If they got back to me, not even right away, but in a reasonable time frame I might have been out of pain a month ago. Now I think my teeth are going to be stained blue because of the crazy amounts of orjel I had to apply over the last 4 weeks....
