  • We went to Tornado Easter Sunday to celebrate my brother-in-laws birthday - a group of 6 with one preteen. We were seated in a semi-private room between the bar and the front entrance which was nice for a larger group. Nick our server greeted us and explained the menu and specials, and gave us time to figure out our orders. He was friendly and informative without being overbearing. Four of us ordered steak which was excellent - but I think we were jealous of the two who didn't.... my husband who ordered the venison and my mother-in-law who ordered the walleye. Everyone agreed that the walleye was perhaps the best thing on the table with the venison being a close second. In addition the market vegetable that night, a braised fennel with a cabernet balsamic reduction was unusual and delicious. Finally even though we had birthday cake before going to dinner, my niece convinced us to order one piece of the lemon - blueberry cheesecake and I am glad she did because it was awesome. A light lemony cheesecake with lots of plump fresh blueberries... a perfect ending to a great dinner. The only thing that marred the experience slightly was a distinct cigarette smoke smell that wafted through our area about halfway through the meal. I think they had the doors open to get some cross-ventilation and we're bringing in smoke from people smoking outside the restaurant. All in all a way better choice than traditional Easter brunch!
