I have previously stayed in this hotel and was pleased for the most part. I do believe it is odd that a decent hotel has no mini-fridge but for one night stays it isn't a deal-breaker.
My trip this weekend was another deal altogether. First we arrived about 15 mins prior to check-in and had booked 2 rooms for 4 adults and 1 dog. We specifically chose this hotel as it was noted in all advertising & websites to be pet friendly. What was mentioned no where was a $75 Nonrefundable fee for the pet. Yes, $75 even though we were standing there with a crate. Clearly, he was no risk of being destructive. We were later told by desk staff that the dog could not be left alone in the room. Who goes on vacation to sit in hotel with the pet the entire time? What about meals or sightseeing??
At the time of check-in, only one room was available. They said they were overbooked & housekeeping was over extended. We were told to go up to the available room and in a few minutes we would be called that the other room was available. 1 hour later I had to call to see what was happening, I was told someone was just about to call, but would instead bring us the keys. 15 minutes later, no keys and one of our party went down and got them. As a side note, the 2 rooms were described similarly & same rate was charged but one was clearly larger and had a sofa sleeper that the other did not.
I would have expressed my views at checkout, but interestingly no inquired about our stay. I am a rabid Pittsburgh Pirates fan so I visit the area regularly. My travel dollar will be better spent elsewhere. On the plus side, there is a lot of parking, good restaurants nearby and the freebie shampoos & soaps smell great.
