| - The theme of this story is - NO CONSISTENCY.
As part of a Living Social deal, I bought a voucher for $20.00 that would entitle me to 3 oil changes. Up to date, I have used two of them: the first, at the Tropicana location, the 2nd at the Eastern location. Both services should have been identical, but aside from the oil change, they were not.
Upon conclusion of the 1st service at Tropicana, the clerk told me that my right rear wheel was bent, and needs work. I told him thank you, and when I am able, I will be back to get it done. He handed me my receipt and key with no further charges.
Today, after finishing at the Eastern location, there was no report of any bent wheel, and there was a fee of 8 dollars and some change.
So, who is wrong and who is right?
Did my wheel mysteriously straighten within 4 months?
Is the Eastern location so much better than the Tropicana location that warrants the 8 dollar charge?
Up to now, it has been a comparison between two businesses with the same name.
But this particular location (8080 Eastern Ave) had a clerk that wanted to argue with me when I went back in, asking them to reset my oil change light. On Scions, it is a "MAINT REQ" light. That guy looks like he has been there a while. I had only the bought the car 3 yrs ago- what do I know? But he was insisting that the light I was seeing was a light reflecting on a different issue. He came out to the car to demonstrate to me, and sure enough there was no oil change light like he insisted. So he brought my valet key to one of the technicians and they came out to do the reset.
Though, they performed the reset successfully, they also managed to switch my digital counter to kilometers. Now I have to find my manual or go on-line to fix it myself.
So, my point is that this business isn't about doing it right the first time and following thtough. It's about having the customer comeback so they can argue and probably find something else to charge them for and probably unrelated and unnecessary.
I have one more free oil change coming to me, but I think I'll go somewhere else, just to make sure my car is in good hands.
