  • For any of your potential customers in the neighborhood for heating and cooling service from these folks, think again, please! I have been a long standing customer with Orangutan, even before they were Orangutan. Originally, they were American Home Maintenance. I have been in my home for nearly 15 years and the WORST of those years has been the last 4 since, Orangutan installed 2 new units in August of 2011. Every Summer passes and I hope and pray that one of the units doesn't fail. I will tell you that I've seen some changes over the years, but right when you think you see a glimmer of light, BOOM, you are left without a unit running at the end of the day! It is now near 6:00 p.m. and the upstairs unit is inoperable. The sad thing this time around is that it wasn't the fault of the units! The gauge wiring used in during the initial construction of the house, by today's standards is subpar. In other words, the wiring wore out. Luckily, one of the FEW technician's that I would even trust to service the units after all these years, found the problem and got the unit running. So, based on his recommendation, it was suggested that new lines be installed in order to possibly prevent a similar situation. So after speaking with the Service Manager about my concerns this week, the office arranged to have the installer come out and replace the lines. Well guess what! My scheduled time was 8-11. I received a call from the office at 10:36 noting that the technician was on his way. I then received a call at 12:50 from the technician, I am on my way. I think he arrived probably close to 2:00. I let him do this thing and unfortunately, they touched some wires and blew out a fuse. No air-conditioning on the second floor tonight where the bedrooms are. Granted the technician did try to find a place that sold the fuse, but was too late and the business closed. The technician was apologetic, but seriously, during his request for a broom to clean up the stairs, I just said I would take care of it. So, I attempted to call the office tonight to see if I could speak to the Service Manager, but he was out for the day. I was told he would be back in at 8:00 in the morning. I live in Surprise, the offices are in Tempe, you tell me, how long I'm going to have sit without any a/c again until someone decides to pop out. Assuming there will be communication. Seriously folks, think again...
