I've only had my car serviced here once, but my experience was good. I brought my 2004 Camry (that I purchased at a different dealership) to Rohrich after it kept stalling at idle and the check engine light was on.
Before taking the car to Rohrich, I plugged in my own OBDII scan tool and got the trouble codes. I then did a little online research, and found out that the stalling was a common problem and could be fixed with a throttle body cleaning and a computer reset. The other trouble code was for a bad upstream O2 sensor.
I did not tell the service advisor that I already had done a little diagnosis and research myself nor did I tell the him that I already knew what the problem likely was.
I dropped the car off and got a call later in the day, and the service advisor told me I needed a throttle body cleaning, a computer reset and a new upstream O2 sensor.
I was extremely pleased that the service advisor was completely honest and their diagnosis was consistent with what I had learned online. I gave him the go-ahead to do the service and I got the car back the next morning.
Anymore it seems that dealership service is a bit of a crapshoot, especially if you don't know anything about cars. I guess it totally depends on the dealer you take the car to and in this case, Rohrich was honest and earned my trust. I do like doing some of my own services, but I also like having the factory-trained technicians occasionally check out my vehicle too. Now I know there is somewhere I can go for Genuine Toyota Service that I can trust.
