  • Okay, I don't know what else goes on at the Markham Fairgrounds but I've come here twice for designer shoe sales now. Parking is pretty easy here, there's a giant lot. There's a big warehouse-type building that is pretty good at holding a big shoe sale. There may be other buildings on these fairgrounds, I don't know. Most notable are the fact that they have composting toilets and a sign that says what they are, the fact that they don't flush and that the waste is processed in a facility underground, which I imagine to be like the Hive in Resident Evil, but way worse. Somehow, the bathrooms are the cleanest smelling bathrooms I've ever been in. They don't smell like waste, and they don't smell like air freshener. They don't smell at all. It's pretty incredible. Maybe some day I'll be lured back here by the promises of rib fests or hoe downs or whatever else goes on here.
