  • The food here is generally good and I would generally have recommended it if you were in the area and wanted a burger, but we had a terrible experience there and I reflected on it for a few days before I took about 20 minutes to send an email to them hoping that they would make things right. I neverd hear back (it has been over a month). I was really disappointed. This is what I wrote: The Liberty has always been one of our casual favorites and I'm genuinely sad that I'm not sure we'll be back. We had 3 adults and 2 kids (1 was a non eating baby) and tried to order a burger, 2 chicken and dumplings, and kids chicken tenders. We were informed that you were out of chicken tenders. I looked around and at 6:45 there was only 1 other table in the dining room so I was confused. My three year old daughter flipped out, which you will understand if you have kids. After 10 minutes I was able to convince her to get the grilled cheese and fries. The waitress went away and came back five minutes later to inform me that you were out of grilled cheese. At this point I could not believe that a restaurant would be out of bread and cheese, especially considering my husband's burger had cheese on it. The restaurant was nearly empty and why would a restaurant open for dinner without something like bread. There are so many Harris Teeter's around to buy bread if need be. At this point it was an hour after we sat down, my daughter was hungry and melting down, and I asked the waitress if should could quickly bring us just a few fries or something since we still had no food so we could figure things out. Ten minutes later we got an entire order of fries (that we were charged for) that she described as VERY VERY HOT. I could barely touch them - completely defeating the purpose of them. It was another 10 minutes before they cooled down enough for my daughter to actually eat a few. I found a Nutri-Grain bar in my purse and that ended up being what she ate as you were out of all kids meals. Another 20 minutes later, the chicken and dumplings came out- the chicken was super dry looking/tasting and I had a total of three gnocchi in my order and my friend had four. Were those sold out as well!?! By the time we left over two hours later (again, terrible with 2 small kids) there were 4 seated tables. There was no reason for this meal to take this long! Three of the four people at our $100+ dinner went home and ate. I would really appreciate some insight as to what was going on and hope you are able to rectify the situation.
