Stayed here for two nights, Sat and Sun. The room we had was nice, two queen beds and an awesome view of the pools and red rocks. Huge bathroom with two sinks and big tub. The room didn't smell like smoke or anything which I always worry about at casinos. Our room was at the opposite end of the hotel from the elevators. It felt like about a half mile walk each time we had to walk back and forth between the elevator and our room. They really need another elevator at the other end of the hotel. There was no microwave or even a coffee pot! There is a fridge but its stashed with drinks that you will get charged for if you move them. Wifi is free but slow and hard to connect to.
There is a shopping center right next to the casino with a lot of food places and shops, but the food options inside the casino are limited. They need a better breakfast option! We ate at the grand cafe which was a bout a 2hr ordeal. We had to wait in line to get seated and once we were the service was slow! The food is not good but still pricey! Avoid eating here if you can. There is a starbucks inside which was convenient.
The actual casino area is nice, a bit smokey of course but not as bad as other casinos I've been to. There is a wide range of minimums here, I saw a blackjack table with a $5 minimum. Most tables are higher minimums than that and there is a high bid room.
On Saturday night there is a free orchestra performance at one of the lounge areas. The groups name is Pop Strings and they play contemporary music. There were a good amount of people dancing.
There was absolutely nothing fun going on on Sunday night.
The pool area is really pretty. There is a big pool, 2 tiny jacuzzis, and about 6-8 smaller pools. It was very cold and windy so we just wanted to go in the jacuzzi but it was packed with like 30 people and when we went over to get in it was barely warm, like maybe 80 degrees! It was a miserable experience! They also check your purses b4 you enter the pool area to make sure you don't bring in any food or drinks.
Overall this is an okay place to stay if you want the casino experience but want to avoid the strip. They need better food options inside, more night time activities, and bigger warmer jacuzzis.
