| - I have had positive experiences with Hertz before and they have a discount arrangement with my car insurance company, but this location is terrible. It's a long haul on the shuttle from the airport to the off-site car rental terminal, though that's not Hertz' fault. I had reserved the car for 12pm Sunday through 7am Tuesday. I decided to try the remote computer kiosks to complete my reservation at the car rental terminal. They have "experts" at the other end of a video screen ready to assist you. My "expert" was not very expert. She couldn't find my reservation, even with my credit card, driver's license, and confirmation number. I had a hard time getting my driver's license to scan as well. She finally had me pull a live person over to the kiosk so they could confer on the kiosk phone. I pulled out my confirmation number from my email and they still couldn't find it. Finally the live person pulled me over to a desk to assist me. She still had trouble pulling up my reservation with my confirmation number, supposedly because the rate didn't match. She told me that since I was 2 hours later than my reservation time, I would be charged $9 extra for my reservation. I asked why. She said because my rate was for my scheduled pick up time only. This seems absurd to charge somebody $9 more to rent a car for 2 hours less. I wasn't going to escalate the situation over $9, but she had a rude and non-customer service friendly attitude. I just told her it wasn't my fault that my flight was late and I wouldn't be renting from Hertz again. She didn't seem to care. Anyway, we took our car which was fine and ended up returning it the next day (a day early) after we were done sightseeing. Usually, car rental companies give you a grace period of an hour for drop offs, but Hertz charged me $11/hr for each hour over 24 hours. We had the car for 25 hours. I didn't argue with the drop off guy over $11 either. I just was done with dealing with Hertz. We took uber back to the hotel downtown and then just spent the evening on foot before ubering back to the airport in the early morning. It actually ended up saving money in the end and we got to sleep in a little longer by not having to drop off the car and take the long shuttle back to the airport.
