| - NEVER AGAIN.
Oye, what was I thinking booking a reservation without reading any reviews. I have stayed in Microtels before, but this was nothing like past experience. I managed to get a good deal using my NYSUT member benefits.
Where do I even start?
When we first arrived around 9pm we checked in and felt a bit awkward with all of the people standing around in the lobby area. They were speaking Hindi or Gujarati or something, and it sort of all went quiet when we got to the front desk.
Our room was on the first floor - a queen suite. It was pretty quiet on the first floor. My first impression was of writing on the walls as you open the door. It appeared to be generally clean, but upon closer inspection I found crusty spots on the fabric of the chairs. There were rips/holes in the fabric of the sofa, and the bathroom sink was rimmed with orange/brown stain spots. I kind of got the feeling that a family with young children had previously LIVED in the room we had.
The TV was an old tube, and the first channel that came on was an Indian station with a Bollywood movie playing. I'm all about Bollywood movies so I actually enjoyed that.
There was a definite lack of electrical outlets, I could only find one in the main room and one in the bathroom.
The shower had one of the bowed curtain rods to add space to the shower, BUT there wasn't an equally long shower curtain to accommodate the change. We were left with a curtain that allowed a huge puddle to form on the floor.
The bed was hard, and the pillows were rock-like as well. My husband and I have allergies, and felt the effects of the stuffy room and old/dirty fabrics.
We had originally booked two nights at this hotel, but since we were headed up to Armstrong county and from there back to New York, we decided to check out after one night.
I wouldn't stay here again, but it was definitely a good deal money wise if you need a place to stay, and the location is good if you need to be near the airport or shopping.
