| - I definitely like the concept; feels like an area at Maker Faire with all these repurposed materials. It's a nice, wholesome contrast to the nearby Fremont Experience.
Our daytime visit was good. We grabbed a couple Sasapops popsicles from their cart and rocked lazily on the wooden bench swing near the stage. In a city full of unique experiences, Container Park is perhaps the least like the rest of the adult entertainment in town.
Most of the businesses were pricey, though, with only outdoor seating in absurdly hot weather. Since the high pricing seemed fairly universal, this may well have been small businesses compensating for their rent.
At night, they light the praying mantis out front, and it becomes something out of Burning Man as the antennae burst aflame, ignited propane shooting into the dark sky. I happened to be there when a fire truck was sitting at the red light there. It honked each time the mantis blasted more propane. They played "Shave and a Haircut" back and forth. It was freakin' cool.
The mantis lends its own thing to the bright, vintage lights of East Fremont. At the very least I'd say you should see the Container Park for it, with the Catalyst Dome changing colors behind it, at night.
