This is the email that I sent to Jacobs Medical Associates. I will NEVER walk back into that office!
I would like to file a complaint from an appt I had today with Dr Addis. I came in with a series of issues which seemed to all be related to my Graves disease. Her take on it when I mentioned anxiety was to tap on the side of her head and say its usually this type of issue. I am not ok with being treated that way. She then asked if I had seen a doctor about my acne and I told her I had. They had put me on medication which cleared my skin but did not fix the issue as the acne would come back if I missed one or two days of the pills. She told me something along the lines of you have to take the pills if you want the end result. I told her that I didn't want to take medicine and would figure out a more natural way to correct the issue instead of mask it with pills. I mentioned my thyroid again as a source of the symptoms and she asked if I had ever been on anti depressants. I told her I had and she started to list off different meds and then told me the one she thought was the best. I told her that I didn't like the way I felt on anti depressants. Her response was to laugh at me. She then asked me (in a VERY condescending way) if I would prefer to continue feeling the way I do now. I told her that I would rather feel this way than be completely numb. She laughed at me again and said she must be different than me as she would want a better quality of life and that I could go ahead with my poor quality of life. This is a horrible way to practice medicine! It seems that your associates would rather push pills instead of figuring out the root cause and truly listening to patients. I started crying during the appt as I was so frustrated and overwhelmed by the situation. I stood up and told her that I didn't think she was the doctor for me. Again with the condescending tone, "Well, why not?" I left. I will not come back to your office. But I do want a formal complaint filed. I expect to be contacted by Monday.
