  • You have to know your way around World Class Bakers. First, avoid many of the things they make themselves. The bread is good (particularly their sourdough, which is very tastily sour, just they way I like it), and the croissants are delicious. The Dufflet pastries and cakes are, of course, amazing. The banana bread may be the best in the entire world. Prices are okay. The seating area is bright and pleasant, and often has a layer of condensation on the big windows overlooking St. Clair from all the baking. It's a nice place to meet for coffee with friends or sit all day with a laptop. It's almost a great breakfast place. I have mixed feelings about the breakfasts. If they could change one of the following I would be in there a lot: a) no table service, so you have to have good ears as they call out your name from the back of the store, b) the price, which is a bit high for what they serve, or c) the quality of the basic bacon'n'eggs breakfast. Top it off with their stinginess about the little jam packets, and it's really too much trouble. It's a pity, because I love their feta omelette.
