  • Bought a 2014 Toyota Prius from this "shop" in December. Sad to say that I saw a pretty picture on Craigslist of this Prius that looked like it had no damages and was well maintained with low miles and a fair price. In my naive excitement I scheduled to look at the car even after a VIN check which showed me the car had been in an accident that tore off the front end. When I inquired about the previous damages the salesman claimed they restored the body and that the interior of the engine was not damaged and all major components kept safe. I got a fishy feeling when I asked about the airbag being deployed and he said it was not even though the pictures I tracked down of the wreck clearly showed it was. He quickly backpedaled after I showed him the pictures and said the person he got it from replaced the air bag. Ignoring that major warning I took it for a test drive and it drove great. It had seemed they did restore it and were offering a great deal. After some thought my excitement mounted and I bought the car, feeling so great to have purchased my fist modern car since my retired 1991 Toyota Cressida which was as old as me. After a month of owning the vehicle I finally started paying attention to one of the lights on the dashboard which I admittedly thought was just some drive mode light or something of the nature. My research showed it as a Slip System Warning and that it needed to be taken to the dealer immediately. Upon inspection they found not only the ABS sensor damaged on the driver front wheel as well as the ABS Harness but also the radiator was punctured from the wreck and leaking radiator fluid all over the rest of the engine. These damages were outside warranty and were quoted at $2000. They also pointed out that the bumper and front end which they "restored" was being help together by a series of staples and masking tape. They didn't even take the time to replace the clips to properly attach the front end to the car which can't be safe. Also the fuse box mount was busted and the fuses were "floating" in their slot which could have led to major and expensive electrical issues down the road. After two months of owning the car I ended up trading it in to Findlay Toyota for a Certified Used model to avoid future repair costs. What started as an excited leap into adult car buying ended with me losing $5000 in negative equity on my trade in and a harsh life lesson. Don't trust these little shark shops. The car may have rode fine but the body work was laughable and disgraceful and the fact that they left a leaking radiator knowingly inside makes me sick. If you have good persuasion skills you can haggle a dealer for a decent price with guaranteed work and avoid these swindlers. The irony of their shop name is not lost on me.
