| - If Yelp allowed me to create a title line, it would be: VOMIT ON THE TOILET SEAT. If you're wondering what I mean, please see the attached photo to this review.
We had a long drive and got into our room around midnight. My boyfriend fell asleep pretty much as soon as we got in the room. I unpacked things a bit. Then before going to bed, I went into the bathroom - the toilet seat was left up. And when I put it down, there were vomit stains on the seat. Total health hazard. My boyfriend was already deep asleep when I discovered this so it was a bit late to switch rooms. I went downstairs and told the guy at the front desk. He was very apologetic and disgusted. He offered to switch rooms, but at that point it was like 1 AM and I said it would be even more of an inconvenience to switch rooms. So I asked for gloves and bathroom cleaner. He apologized and gave me things to clean the toilet with since the housekeeping staff wasn't available at that hour. He said he would make a note of the incident. I thought him saying he would "make a note of the incident" meant that when I checked out there would be a discount or something. But the guy who was there during checkout said there was no note made of the incident, and said that he could not discount the room even if he wanted to, and that I'd have to talk to hotels.com. He was zero help and didn't look genuinely sorry for the gross surprise their housekeeping staff failed to clean up.
So Hotels.com sent me the standard, "how was your stay?" type of survey, and I posted my 2-star review. The only response I received back was that my review was published. Shame shame on Comfort Inn and Hotels.com. I don't plan to stay in another Comfort Inn, nor will I book through Hotels.com. I'll stick to Priceline, or book directly through the hotel, thank you very much.
As for my 2-star review, I gave it 2 stars instead of 1 because besides the nasty vomit they didn't clean up and the faint cigarette smell throughout the hotel, the guy who was there the night I checked in was very nice and looked genuinely sorry that the room hadn't been fully cleaned. The hotel room was fine otherwise. So it wouldn't have been fair to only give them one star.
