| - It's taken me a little while since my last visit to actually put into words how disappointed I am with this place. My job doesn't offer the conventional insurance for eye exams and the like. Instead, I'm allowed an annual compensation of up to $400.00 for all related items, so, I try to plan my eye exams, contacts and glasses purchases to cater to that.
I went here already disappointed with my previous visit when I'd been given Dailies contact lenses. They weren't as comfortable as my previous 30-day lenses, despite the convenience of not having to soak my pair each night. But, that's little hassle for me to have something on my eyes that I'm not constantly aware of. Despite telling them that, I was fitted for a different pair of Dailies than before and was then told about a raving deal with the brand Alcori where I would get back an amazing rebate ONLY IF I purchased a year's supply. So, despite that I ended up spending upwards of $700.00, I felt like I'd came out on top with a year's supply of contacts that, with a promised $200.00 rebate and with my company's compensation plan, would only cost me a little over $100.00.
The rebate itself was such a pain, but that has nothing to do with this office and everything to do with Alcori just being a horrible company. After three denials, I finally got on the phone with somebody that could walk me through the missing documents to get this rebate processed, only to get back half of what I was promised. Turns out, Alcori only offers that rebate to NEW customers and since I'd purchased my last set of contacts from the same office through them, I was now an existing customer. Information that would have changed my decision to purchase the entire year's supply.
I honestly think Optic Gallery has some sort of deal with Alcori and that's why they're so pushy with their products, despite not even knowing anything about the rebates they're offering. It's my own fault for not putting my foot down, but I let them wave a shiny deal in front of my face and completely fell for it. You know what they say...if it's too good to be true, it probably is. So, with that said, I'll be getting my next eye exam and all of my contacts/glasses from a different source. One that will, not only, listen to my requests, but won't bully me into a purchase with false benefits.
