| - Went here with a friend b/c we bought a groupon. I had heard this place had a stench to it, but after reading some recent reviews on yelp people said it didnt stink.
QUITE the CONTRARY. If you are sensitive to smell like I am, this place reeks. And im not talking about the front entrance and bathroom/changing area, im talking about the studio where you spend 90 min in a hot room doing sweaty bikram yoga poses. It really made me nauseated the whole time. And im not the kinda of person who walks out of the room during classes but I had to step out 3x to get the stench away from my nose. The smell as soon as you walk into the studio is a mixture of wet dog, human Body Odor and wet clothes that havent been dried completely. They do have doors to the studio but it doesnt look like they air it out or clean the carpet that everyone sweats their entire body weight in sweat onto the carpet. When my friend and I were doing poses, we slipped on the carpet because probably from the previous class, the carpet was SOAKED in human sweat. It was to the point where when we left, my yoga matt was soaked through and through with wetness.
From my previous experiences at a Bikram studios, my yoga matt has never been soaked like that! And for those of you who think it was my sweat, think again! I even had a thick towel over it while doing my poses.
I am only giving this studio a 2 star rating bc of the SMELL alone.
As for everything else, I would have given it 4-5 stars. The receptionist was nice and friendly. It was clean and it didnt smell. They had a assortment of drinks and yoga stuff for sale (outfits, mats, etc). Also the bathroom was soooo pretty!!
I wish I had taken a picture (but due to privacy of all the ladies in the bathroom i couldnt capture a shot). The chandelier in the bathroom was gorgeous. Many many stalls with lockers that you dont even need to bring a lock for, and it is class A- Super CLEAN. They also allow kids and they give you this cute card to keep track of your classes/account.
Also the instructor was fanstastic (forgot her name)- seems brazilian. She was super encouraging and helpful and went around the class fixing everyone posture discreetly instead of calling people out. She also came up to me at the end of the class to ensure I was ok, as well as through out the class b.c I was so Nauseated by the smell.
The weird things is that one of the water fountains were broken at the time I was there and the one that is working is so strong that the water Spills ALL over the ground which creates a nasty puddle in the hallway space leading to the bathroom.
I have 9 more classes here and I dont know how im going to get over that SMELL/STENCH. I have to say, it does get a little better during the class for whatever reason. But as soon as the class is over and everyone is out, the SMELL IS HORRENDOUS. I know they can fix the smell/clean the carpet, they just dont or they dont do it often enough.
This place has so much potential but that stench makes it subpar.
