You know what gets me right out of a Yelping lull? Finding a hidden gem!
If you live in this area, you know that good coffee shops on the Dupont strip are few and far between; your options are essentially to walk further west to the Junction or all the way down to Brockton Village. Needless to say, when I saw Cafe Con Leche, I was super excited to finally have a caffeine oasis in my hood.
I first spotted this cute coffee shop on my way to the library on Dupont (three doors down). As I walked past the large bay window, one of the owners Carlos waved and smiled at me... I took this as a sign that this place had a good community vibe. After my literary binge at the library I swung back on my tracks and went in for a drink.
I ordered the peppermint tea which tastes just like the Moroccan style tea I've had at Sultan's Tent (in other words super delicious). The next time I came to this spot, I ordered their AMAZING Nutella Latte which is exactly what is sounds like... a latte made with dollops of Nutella. I am pretty sensitive to super sweet flavours and I was pleasantly surprised how the Nutella provided just enough sweetness, without overpowering the drink. As for the food, I was not as crazy about the ham croissant as I was on the scones, but both are quite good.
Overall I really enjoy coming here. The Wi-Fi is reliable, the prices are fair and reasonable and the owners, Sandra & Carlos (and Afante the Intern) are always warm and personable.
