What an awesome and quaint spot. If I lived in AZ this would be my regular place to dine, drink and light up a stogie. One thing to note: they open at 5pm on the dot. We had rsvp for 5p and I could literally hear them check the time and not let us in until it was 5p exactly. That was off-putting but understandable. Off-putting because we were the only people there (10 min early) and would have loved to sit at the bar for a while, but understandable because they wanted to be ready for any crowd at anytime and we knew it opened at 5. But anyway - the food was a excellent. A nice modern take on traditional Jamaican fare. Everything needed a dash more salt to bring out the flavors more. We ordered the ham hock and butter beans (beans a bit more al dente than we like) but the hock was smoked and cooked nicely. The escovitch catch of the day was great (requested more escovitch). The jerk Cornish hens were pretty good too just the right smoke and spice. Now onto the drinks - rum punch of the Day was a bit to medicine-y for us. But, can I tell you- the rum old-fashion, the pina colada, and the velvet and vinyl are exquisite! For dessert we opted for the rum cake - which was rich and dense like a rum pudding. Nice consistency and flavor. But by far the BEST part of the meal was the appetizer - Seared Sea Scallops!!! We had several orders. I guess I would be remiss if I didn't mention the atmosphere - looks upscale but it's a very comfortable space. The cigar area was cozy and the Mural on the was was fantastic! I wish I would have take a picture. Anyway. I hope this was helpful. Do it!!!
