| - I have heard a lot of good things about Goyemon, and I finally had the chance to try it out for myself today. My friend and I were waiting for our appointment at a nearby salon, so popping in for a quick bite to eat seemed the best option.
To start, there wasn't a wait to sit at the bar, and we were there during the lunch hour, so that was a plus. My friend opted for a beer, while I got the 2 roll lunch special (shrimp tempura rolls). The server was friendly, and quick, we did not have to wait long for our orders.
My meal came with miso soup, a salad, and the shrimp tempura rolls that I ordered.
For the price (less than $10), this had a great deal, as I ate enough to fill me up and still had some left over.
The food itself, was good, but not astounding as I was under the impression that it would be. Granted, I ordered a shrimp tempura roll, but I felt that the taste itself was on the bland side. Generally, whenever I've had shrimp tempura rolls at other establishments, there was more of a robust shrimp flavor. Perhaps it was a difference in seasoning used, but it just didn't hold true to the flavor that I normally expect of this roll. The miso soup was good, hot and tasted as I expected it to. My friend ate the salad, so I don't have feedback on that, but it looked appropriately seasoned.
3 stars for today's experience, the staff was friendly, but perhaps my expectations were too high, as the food itself was not as tasty as I hoped it would be.
