| - We love to hit up mini golf when family or friends come to town, but for some reason I never noticed this place until yesterday. The in-laws were in town and we wished we could go mini golfing, so I hopped online to see where the closest one was to us in Huntersville. I was shocked to find that it was only a few minutes away in Cornelius, and was even more shocked since we drove by that area all the time. Needless to say we took advantage of the nice weather and headed out today.
The people working there were pretty darn friendly. What's even more important was that the place was clean and well cared for. We used to go to a mini golf place in New York that had horrible upkeep...the courses were all rotting and frayed, there was graffiti on the walls, and the courses were just in overall bad shape. LNMG is quite the opposite...everything is clean and inviting. Not only is the course in good shape the equipment was also in great condition. Like Rob S. mentioned, it has a wilderness theme where the course is littered with all kinds of plastic wildlife statues. There are small streams that can be crossed by bridge or you could walk over the rocks (if you dare!)
There is only one course of 18 holes, which is the only downside. I like it when a mini golf place has two separate courses, as it not only makes return visits more fun but also disperses a crowd (granted, we went at 12:30 in the afternoon so there was NO ONE else there, but I can see it being packed on a weekend summer night.) The courses were a bit challenging, and none of us got a single hole in one (chances are there will usually be two-three hole in ones between everyone at other courses.) Most of the courses were labeled a "par two" but we were lucky to get better four on most of them. It's a good challenge though, and will definitely lead to plenty of laughs with family and friends.
There is also a concession area where you can grab some food, drinks and snacks, but we didn't order anything. Overall, it's definitely worth the price of $8 per adult. We've been to courses where you will get charged $10 or more per adult, so it's definitely reasonable, especially since you are getting a high-quality, well cared for course. Also, if you decide to play through a second round you will get half price, where it will be $4 per adult.
If you're in the Lake Norman area and are looking to kill some time with friends and family, this is definitely a great place to go. I highly recommend it, and we will definitely be back!
