  • OH MY GOODNESS I was anxiously awaiting this place to open up as the sign was posted out front for nearly a month now. Today, opening day finally arrived! I was walking through the Annex and spied a GIANT ICE CREAM CONE man hailing people in. Considering it was about 3 degrees out today and the place was rammed with people buying froyo, I expect it will be here to stay (unlike all the other businesses that have flopped in this particular building). For those who don't know, Menchie's is a new froyo (frozen yogurt) chain from the USA which has finally made it's way into Canada. Unlike other froyo places, Menchie's is SELF SERVE and you pay by weight. They have a rotating variety of yogurt flavours (today they had chocolate, vanilla, mango tart, no sugar added strawberry, and a dairy free kiwi variety) There were a few other choices that escape my mind. They also have a rotating variety of toppings. Toppings were AWESOME. Quite a few fresh fruits along with cereals, nuts, chocalate, cookies and all sorts of evilness. They also had hot fudge and other syrupy toppings. I selected a small portion and it only came to $2.50 or so. I love paying by weight!!! I'm a "mixer" and I love trying as many toppings as possible, so it was a dream to be able to sample 8-9 tiny portions of everything I wanted and not paying huge $$$$ for it. Decor was bright and happy looking and they had plenty of staff at hand to deal with the crazed froyo lovers.
