  • Having read the multitude of FIVE-STAR REVIEWS here at Yelp for Dr. Glenn Roter, my husband made an appointment for me to have an exam and get a new prescription for glasses. My spectacles, which had been prescribed for me at Costco in the early 21st century, were scratched so badly that I couldn't use them anymore. I arrived at the spacious, very professional office of Dr. Roter on Wednesday morning this week, filled out a simple form, and was beckoned in by the optometrist himself within fifteen minutes. He led me to a trio of eye-testing machines, which he cleaned with rubbing alcohol before I set my chin on them. I took his suggestion and also had the ophthalmoscope take photos of my retinas. Glad I did that, because a local retina specialist had told me two years ago when I was seeing flashes that there was a mild problem with mine, but Dr. Roter's test showed them to be in great condition. Then we entered a large room for the eye-chart tests. I was impressed with Dr. Roter's state-of-the-art equipment and his process. When all that was done, and my mild astigmatism confirmed, he showed me on a screen the insides of my eyes. Turns out I have no macular degeneration, though that long-ago optician at a west-coast Costco had diagnosed the early stages of it for both my eyes, giving me a poor long-range prognosis. Total charges for all this painless testing were under a hundred bucks. We took the prescription to the eyeglass shop just outside Dr. Roter's office. They helped us immediately, after my husband and I chose the most flattering pair for my face and pale blonde hair. My spiffy new spectacles will be ready seven days from my very pleasant and enlightening appointment with the good Dr. Glenn Roter. I highly recommend this excellent optometrist!
