Fellow cheese lovers untie! I came here for the sole purpose of buying some Muenster cheese- my favourite! To my disappointment they didn't have it! I had purchased some at the other location (Winston Churchill/Dundas) and realized this store is smaller and has a few less offerings than the other Mississauga location.
Having said that, I still love this place! Growing up, Saturday mornings were often spent shopping at Polish store's, Starsky's selection definitely rivals all the others! Over the years Starsky's has significantly changed what used to be primarily all Polish food offerings and employees, now has staff that speak English and an amazing selection of European goods- one stop shopping!
For those of you barbecuing- this is where the meat is at! An amazing selection of sausages! I would never buy sausages at my local grocery store!
Other things to try:
Kielbasa
Kabanos
Pate
Cold cuts (offer nitrate free as well)
Biala kielbasa (white sausage)
Herbal teas
Pickles
Perogies
Cheesecake
Makowiec (poppy seed cake/roll)
Paczki- a must! Polish doughnut- try the original plum (other flavours: custard, rose, raspberry). I prefer the glazed over the powdered ones.
Overall, houses many products you won't find at your local grocer such as beverages. I spotted Capri Sun- childhood memories relieved!
TIPS-
1)Saturday morning/afternoon is best to avoid especially if you want time to peruse the aisles while taking your sweet time
2) Samples are offered so if you're not sure you'll like it- just ask!
3) Grab a ticket for the deli counter- shop for the other goods while listening for your number if you want to maximize on time
4) There is no ticket required for the cheese counter just look for a line formation
5) For a true Starsky's experience visit the Winston Churchill/Dundas location
