| - Like many, I purchased a 3 hour Valley of Fire tour for $85 through Groupon. As such, it was included as part of my vacation plans for my weekend trip to Vegas. I was advised when I called and made my reservation a month ahead of time that I would receive a call the day before to confirm the reservation, go over the meeting point and so they could take our lunch order. Ok we were all set next month for the 11:00 trip.
I guess I should have known this adventure was going to be a problem when no call came in for me on the day before our scheduled time. So I had to call them to confirm that I still had a reservation. They confirmed my reservation, and told me where to me the guy to get picked up and what kind of sandwich we wanted.
We went to bed a little early, (at least for Vegas) by 12:00 am and really didn't drink as much since we knew we had to get up by 9 a.m. to shower, eat and get over to the meeting spot by 11. Plus having a hangover on something like this probably isn't a good thing!
We were getting ready the morning of our ride, when i noticed i received a text message and a missed call at 9:30 am. It was from adrenaline telling me that my 11:00 tour was being cancelled due to a few of their ATVs breaking down in the 8 AM group.
I couldn't believe they were canceling the tour due to a few ATVs breaking down. I figured this company had enough ATVs to handle a few breaking down since they should have a few extra just in case or for when they take a few out of the fleet for periodic maintenance. I was told that the guy wasn't going to go to the ranch for some extra ones, they were just canceling this group.
They offered to rebook me for the next day (Sunday) but I was there for the weekend and since I went to bed early the night before, I wasn't about to reschedule for an 8 AM group the next day! I guess the thought of waking up at 6 am just didn't sound like it was worth it!
So bottom line, these guys either are a mom and pop operation that have old equipment, or just a poorly run business that isn't keeping up the maitanence on their equipment. However, for all I know they overbooked and just cancelled my reservation because they sure seemed positive that the 8:00 a.m. Group the next morning would be going out!
I might consider going if you call that day and they said that they have an opening, but don't plan your trip around this company in advance, they are not reliable! I also would worry that if their stuff is breaking down, maybe the brakes, tires or something else isn't being maintained and that's not a bike I want to be on!
I would pass and go on another one of the numerous red rock trips available in Vegas.
