| - This is one of those places where there are two different things to rate: the beer and the food. I like some of the beer a lot and then some I don't care for that much. Tonight almost half of their beers were catering to the American IPA craze, which was a bit much. I don't like IPAs at all, so I'm not docking any points for the IPAs, just maybe wish there was a bit more variety. I really like their White Lightning, but you can get that in most local bars with a decent draft selection. So, I skipped on that and went for a darker beer. I tried the Milk Plus, which was good for a milk stout, but it wasn't quite up to par for me. I ended up going with another stout called Irish Leprechaun I believe, which was a very nice nitro stout akin to a Guinness.
With that said, we came here to try their food predominately this time and thats where it was a bit of a let down in my opinion. We started off with the soft pretzel bites, which were good, but were not very pretzel like. They were more like tiny biscuits, which you could put mustard on. Then the group of us tried a few of their spent grain pizzas. The crust was pretty good, but for the most part they weren't doing it for me. The sauce was minimal at best and the toppings could have been a bit more plentiful.
All in all, I'll stick to their beer and if I need some grub, I'll head down to Rivertowne for much better pub food.
