I had a pretty crappy day trying to get my nails done. My usual place was busy and seemed to be lacking of customer service. I used Yelp to find Wonder Nails near Woodbine Station (don't try to find it, it doesn't exist). Finally I saw two nail salons fairly close together at Queen near woodbine.
I popped into Rainbow nails. They had available staff who could do a mani/pedi for me right away. I chose the colour for my pedi (I already brought my own nail polish for the mani) and we got started right away.
The staff member was friendly and not very chatty. That's fine with me, I don't like to chat usually. But she didn't ask if I wanted my nails cut and just got to work. With nothing to distract me I realized this place is rather run down and shabby looking.
The pedicure chairs look to be older and cheaper models. The space itself was quite small and cramped together and the manicure stations are actually kind of gross. They use these dirty looking pink foam pads to cover the desk surface and the customers are supposed to rest their arms on it while their nails are being done.
She also didn't file my nails straight. And when she paint them, the polish wasn't even and it bubbled. This is nail polish I own and have taken to other salons and used myself. It has never bubbled before. I was then taken to a dryer. After some time she came by, barely glanced at them and sent me on my way. BUBBLED NAIL POLISH ON MY HANDS. And I paid and tipped generously before the polish went on.
I don't like to argue with service industry workers and I had already had a disappointing day so I simply left. I wouldn't come back here anyway as it's not in my neighbourhood, but I would not recommend anyone going there. I felt gross being there. Plus nails not filed properly, and bubbled polish and polish chipping before 2 days have passed.... Nothing to recommend about this establishment at all.
