| - Carson tower rooms are in horrible shape. Paint peeling, fixtures rusting, sinks not draining. Stains everywhere. Gross. This place is not worthy of the Landry's brand.
We booked a luxury pool cabana for their infamous shark tank pool. As we check in for our wrist bands, employee tells us "no outside food or drink" which we take to mean we have to purchase everything through the pool menu. We were dying for coffee and a piece of toast or bagel (10 a.m.) We get all the way up to the Cabana, and they tell us "we don't have coffee, go get it at Starbucks". Well, we were told no outside food or drink "oh, that means not outside the casino"--gee, that explanation would've been helpful.
Also, we've stayed at hotels all over the world, and always get pool cabanas and this is the first time we've experienced one that doesn't serve coffee. "Luxury Cabana" this is not--it's also the only cabana experience we've had that doesn't offer an option to dial a number for service. You're at the mercy of when the server comes by. Thankfully, our attendant was good.
So I schlepped all the way down again, got coffee and came all the way back up. Food and drinks were good. Shark slide was fun. Just remember, you'll have to walk barefoot up to the elevator (which is super gross) to get back to your cabana. Yuck.
Elevators throughout the hotel were a mess--slow, shakey, and two just broke down. This was true for the garage, the hotel itself and the pool (the lifeguard said he was embarrassed by the pool elevator squeaking and shaking).
Also, be aware that Starbucks in Vegas hotels is much more expensive than regular Starbucks--$7 for a breakfast sandwich, This hotel has 2 Starbucks--one that is always out of bagels and croissants, and another which has it all, but no microwave or toaster. WTF???
I'm also sick and tired of Landry's promises of room upgrades with the Landry's card. Not once has this been honored. There is always an excuse i.e., there's a game, there's a convention--when is that not the case in Vegas? We're signing up for other loyalty brand cards, this one isn't worth it.
