  • Let's talk about Hanny's. 1. They've had four priority health dept. violations between Februrary 9th, 2015 and May 6th, 2015. Maricopa County Environmental Services defines a "Priority Violation" as "a major violation that directly contributes to increasing the risk of food borne illness or injury. " Yum! You can find this information by going to http://www.maricopa.gov/EnvSvc, restaurant ratings, business name, Hannys 2. Their service is notoriously awful. At about 8PM last night (I was one of maybe, ten people in the whole place) I was met with the status-quo, smug, aloof, demeanor of one entitled, crabby bartender. My salad order was incorrect, then I had to flag him down to place my pizza order, interrupting his annoyingly long conversation with a buddy, less than five feet from where I was sitting. 3. After acknowledging the incorrect order, and being pulled away from his hipster gabfest with the inconvenience of taking my order, I received zero concession on the cost of my botched salad. I did, however, get the privilege of being up-charged $2.00 for extra sauce on my pizza! Yay! 4. Today I called the restaurant and spoke to the manager, Alex, to obtain his email address. Though he's been GM there for some time, he must have a bit of a memory problem because he gave me the wrong address. Poor guy. Luckily for both of us, I'm rather resourceful and figured out the right one. I sent him a message detailing both my experience last night, as well as previous unpleasant experiences. I've also learned that the he is (or was) the significant other of the owner's daughter, apparently not a recipe for over-achievement (see number 5) 5. Here is the email reply I received from Alex. "Liz thank you for the email. First let me say I am sorry for the lack of service you experienced on Sunday. While the goal is to provide excellent service all of the time to everyone, it is not always achievable. Cody did mention your complaint and was truly sorry he said to me that he was unaware of any problem until you mentioned your experience just before you left. We would love the opportunity to serve you again and hopefully make up for your visit this past Sunday. Please give us the chance and please introduce yourself next time you stop by. Sincerely Alex." Too bad there isn't an abundance of really amazing restaurants in the Phoenix area from which to choose in the future. Oh, wait...
