  • I mean, can I give it 2 and 1/2 stars instead of just 2?!? The location is good - right on the Trans-Canada Highway. The Sources Rd exit has a bunch of restaurants just to the west (Del Friscos, Jack Astors, Elixer). And there is a Tim Hortons just east on the service road. But overall,it is easy to not notice this hotel amidst all of the auto-dealerships and industrial companies around. It appears that 95% of their business is from the companies in the area. The remaining 5% is the Canadian Lawn Bowlers Association that were there for the "championships" while I stayed there two nights - LOL. So maybe it's standard for Hampton Inn's in Canada, but this location has a bar. Yes, in the BACK of the property, there is a bar that is best described as one of those temporary bars the bigger hotels wheel into a room during a show/convention. On my first night here, I was the only person there. Yes, the bartender and I had a conversation about how the lawn bowlers apparently don't like to drink before their tournaments. On the 2nd night however, there they were - winners drinking with losers, talking about how the other threw that day and such. I am sad to say 1) I didn't ask for autographs from the winning bowlers 2) I don't even know what "lawn bowling" is! Back to the hotel... I have stayed in enough HI's to know this is better than most - besides the fact it has a bar. There is a big indoor pool and a nice workout facility. The breakfast waitstaff kept the tables cleaned as patrons dined on the typical HI fare PLUS BAKED BEANS. You must be in Canada when they serve baked beans for breakfast, right?? Overall, I would give this property the rating I did because, as a Diamond HHonors member, I don't expect much. Both my HHonors profile and my reservation I made through Hitlon's website asked for a higher-floor room near the elevator. However, I was in room 125 for two nights. That's right, I was on the 1st floor, across from the pool, overlooking the parking lot. Meanwhile the professional lawn bowlers had the penthouse on the 4th floor. I am not a snob, but I guarantee I was paying more CAD$ than them, plus I am Diamond for a twooney's sake. Oh well.
