This is long overdue.
Was looking to get a root touch up. I had platinum blonde hair at the time. The stylist commented on various parts of my hair being a pale blond and said she would touch them up a bit. I didn't really think twice after that, but I should have.
I'm kinda new to the whole bleaching game and probably should have spoken up during the process, but I had little experience to go by.
I had gone to a different salon a few weeks prior to get a cut in which the stylist said the integrity of my hair was great considering it was platinum.
The "stylist" left the bleach in my hair for almost 3 hours and checked back a few times only to add a new batch of bleach to my hair. I sat for what seemed to be another hour and then was taken to the sink.
I wasn't aware and still not totally sure what she did but I sat at the sink for over an hour. I can only surmise it was a bleach bath??? She had never discussed the process if it was. Btw, I opted for Olaplex at the beginning of my appointment.
Finally she rinsed my hair and towel dried it, then styledwith a blow dryer. When she was using the brush while styling she was quite rough and it was very uncomfortable as she was pulling on my hair. I suspect it was due to the fact that my hair was completely over processed and she could barely put a brush through my now unmanageable hair. After all that, my roots were a light yellow and did not match up with the rest of my hair.
To add insult to injury, the price was close to $200 (I did buy a hair mask and the Olaplex) I was very surprised at the price, but paid without a peep and gave a 15% tip. I was a sucker and felt bad.
Final nail in the coffin...the girl left bleach in my hair and didn't wash all of it out before styling it with a blow dryer!!! I left the salon with my scalp feeling tender and by the time I got home I wanted to rip my hair out! There was no mistaking the dull powdery crunch of the bleach still in my roots. It took a couple weeks for the sores on my scalp to heal. Also, my black cardigan now has a nice bleach ring stain on the back.
In this case I fault the salon for hiring someone with so little care and experience. I would give this place ZERO stars if I could just based on their hiring practice.
I never would have written this if it weren't for another stylist who prompted me to go back to the salon and get compensation. I won't be going back to that salon, but I honestly hope this pushes ppl to do their research and if it doesn't feel right, to speak up.
Wheww longest review ever!
