| - Tldr; below average coffee and food, off-putting service, and no wifi (?!) is why I will probably never venture back.
From the outside, the Green Beanery looked like a solid coffee shop - it was spacious, the menu boasted enticing choices, and the workers looked hip and awesome.
The overall space is great. It had industrial-themed decor, plenty of seats and even a small shop selling coffee machines, beans, and other trinkets inside. Unfortunately, everything else fell short of my expectations. I ordered a soy vanilla latte and a chocolate croissant for myself. My soy vanilla latte lacked flavour and richness, while my croissant was too oily and had too little chocolate. My boyfriend also did not seem satisfied with his order (an americano and an egg & veggie sandwich), although I cannot fully attest to his experience as I did not try any of it.
It was only after ordering and finding a comfortable spot when we discovered (from a very rude server) that this place did not have wifi. I know that it is such a first-world problem, but this factor ranks high in my books. I would also imagine that 99% of Toronto's coffeeshops would have wifi, especially if they are situated in a neighbourhood inhabited by students and young adults.
So we literally packed our bags and moved to the Second Cup down the street so we could actually get some work done, all the while feeling bitter about the fact that we dropped almost $20 only to spend 10 min inside.
