| - Would give them no stars if I could.
Checked their BBB rating they currently have a C-
Wish I had read theses reviews before my husband bought, or rather thought he bought a car on June 9th 2017 from these people, they took it back today before we even made the first payment. The reason was the bank supposedly was unable to reach my husband for a "welcome call" so they sent the paperwork back to Chapman, sounds like bs to me but anyway. I don't know how they can revoke a loan that was signed for and have never heard of a bank making welcome calls. They also said they couldn't resubmit the loan or talk to the bank about reconsidering it.
Also they didn't come themselves looking for the car, they had our address, instead they sent a police officer to find the car like we were some sort of criminals who stole it. It was really a bit scary they way they went about getting the car back. I had my daughter with me and I had just pulled in and parked, hadn't even turned the engine off, when a I heard a loud tapping at my window. I looked over to see a large man looking in who then flashed his badge at me and I then noticed his car was parked so I couldn't get out even if I wanted to. I began getting very worried wondering what I had done, I wasn't driving fast, hadn't run any light, couldn't for the life of me figure out what I had done.
I got out of the car and the officer was very nice told me no one was in trouble or getting arrested he just needed to talk to my husband about the car. Though I must say all this was a bit scary especially when the only reason he was there was because of a phone call that was never received. In fact he said that Chapman is the worst company to do business with, I take that comment as he has been called out before to take back cars from people who thought they had a valid loan.
My husband had been in Chapman since he signed the papers about a week or so ago because they charged his card $115 they weren't supposed to, I found this out when I was trying to buy groceries and my card was declined. They admitted their error and put the money back on but it didn't post back to our account until the next day. I would have thought that they would have heard from the bank by that time that they had not been able to get in touch with him to "Welcome" him, but nobody mentioned any problem with the loan.
We are now waiting for the deposit he put down to be posted back to our account so we can maybe rent a car for a week while we figure out what to do for transportation.
I can't believe that they are in business if this is what they do.
I will never recommend Chapman to anyone, in fact I would advise them to stay away.
