| - We've been here several times and enjoyed the happy hour. We went for a dinner last week for my birthday and remembered why we hadn't gone for a full meal here in about five years. The food is fine, but overpriced. A small cup of gumbo is $9, which isn't worth it as it's just okay, not great, and it isn't like any gumbo I've had before. It's like vegetable soup with a few shrimp thrown in.
It's the service that needs so much improvement. It was a busy night, and we we're shown to a table that didn't have any utensils or napkins. The hostess didn't notice, the server didn't notice and the person who brought our apps out didn't notice. With our food sitting there getting cold, I left the dining room where we were seated and went into the main room and found napkins and utensils on a table, and as I headed back, I ran into our server and told her that I'd come out to get our utensils myself. She smiled and said very cheerfully, "Oh, that's fine!" As if I'd been apologizing.
By the time our meals came out I'd finished my cocktail and asked the person who brought our food for another and she said she'd get it. 25 minutes later, I'm done with my meal, and our original server walked by, saw my empty glass, and said, "Oh yeah, I was suppose to put an order in for another." Says that to us, then runs off before I can say that I didn't want it any more. She brought it two minutes later and I drank half really quickly because we were paying for it, but we were done.
