It's one of the few places in Arizona to find fresh fish. Fish so fresh, they are still swimming in tanks. And the ones that aren't? They're laying on fresh ice.
Mekong Supermarket is unique in my opinion. The owners are progressive driven, and you see it in how they staff. They're a mix of ethnicities which drives home the progressive point, and it also shows in how they treat customers - with straightforward attention and a no-bullshit attitude. You are here to get Asian food, which is why you're in an Asian supermarket. No one here is going to try to upsell you to some greasy donuts or coffee.
Another selling point about Mekong is its placement in a strip-mall like environment that is therefore interconnected with various other businesses. There's unPhogettable at the time that this review was written, as well as a bakery, a TMobile store, a little Taiwanese cafe and a Chinese restaurant on the side of the building that serves fresh dim sum on the weekends.
Long story short, there's a lot to have when you go to Mekong. I would return, and have returned on several occasions.
Downside: Phone signal is terrible inside Mekong, but that's not Mekong's fault nor the telecom providers in the area. More than likely just shoddy facility infrastructure that interferes with wireless connectivity.
