| - My boyfriend had just been telling me that we should try eating at Nobu, so when I saw a Groupon for this place the next day we couldn't pass it up.
We bought the $95 Groupon ($150 value) which included a five-course tasting menu for two. My favorite was the first dish, their signature yellowtail sashimi with jalapeƱo. I do agree with other reviewers who said the sashimi was a bit thin, but wow did it taste great. The dessert dish was a close second favorite. It included a molten chocolate cake, green tea ice cream, and a whiskey-infused cappuccino-like dessert. My least favorite was the assorted sushi dish that included a california roll and six pieces of nigiri (tuna, salmon, and snapper). Every other dish was unique and full of flavor, while this assorted sushi dish was average at best.
Aside from the five-course meal, we also ordered their popular cucumber martini. It was a strong little drink with a fantastically fresh aroma. I don't often love the scent of alcohol but this drink was a definite exception.
We had a very satisfying experience overall. Although slow at times, the service was great and every dish was thoroughly explained. The manager was also quite nice and stopped to speak with us for a moment.
We weren't entirely stuffed by the end of our five courses, but we were full enough. Overall, the food-tasting was a true experience and definitely worth a try, but this isn't a place I would frequent due to their notably high prices. To sum up my review - if you're into high quality Japanese tapas-like dishes and can easily afford the heady price point, this place is for you!
