| - Came in today with the mindset of buying a sectional. Tried out all the showroom models and narrowed my choices down to 2 models, both on sale with the last day of the sale being today!
I was approached by a few sales people, spoke to one in more detail in the sectional section. After speaking to him about both pieces, I did end up making my mind up and chose the lovely dark blue sectional. The furniture was very comfortable, nice material and a proper warranty on the product: 5 years on the frame, springs, 2 years on the foam, and 1 for fabric and workmanship.
I said to the gentleman flat out, "salesman to salesman. I want to make my process short and to the point. I'm here to buy furniture, I seem to have found what I'm looking for, but I am going to negotiate. If the numbers make sense, what can you do for me to put a deal together?" Any salesman would be licking his chops to have a customer like that, not the "I don't know, I can't make a decision, let me think about it kind of person."
The salesperson flat out said we don't negotiate the price of the furniture, company policy. He didn't seem to want to address why they have this policy. Now I'm familiar with one price policies, I have it at my dealership for used cars. Having said that, we look at all the competitors on AutoTrader and price our vehicles lower to be the best in the market. I explain to my clients why we have the one price policy and we show you our compeitor's prices to back it up. I have clients from Barrie, Niagara Falls, Ottawa, Sudbury, many parts around to purchase a vehicle with our one price policy. They know it is the best price.
To be honest, I don't notice any change in Leon's prices, they're the same inflated prices with mark up. Another negative I came across is the salesperson telling me that if I comeback tomorrow, the store "would not bother to offer you today's sale price under any circumstances even as good faith." Plus... No negotiating, this left a very sour taste in my mouth. I know it's not the best price, it's inflated. Everyone should have the right to negotiate, for Leon's to take that away from me means I will be taking my business elsewhere and it's a shame, I've had no issues with their furniture.
