This is a classic stadium which Charlotte has managed to preserve! It's hard to believe the venue was built in the 1930's. The facility has seen some wear and tear over the years but it's still a great venue. It is often used for high school and college football games but has also been host to rock concerts, fireworks displays and my favorite, drum corps competitions!
It is located just outside of the I-277 loop in the middle of the CPCC campus but it is operated by the Mecklenburg County Parks and Rec Department. It has a great view of Uptown Charlotte.
I always loved when Carolina Crown hosted their annual drum corps shows here. There's not really a bad seat on the home side to see a show.
I'd love to see this venue continue to serve Charlotte but it is about time for some upgrades including artificial turf, a better sound system.
