  • LUCKY CLUB HOTEL AND CASINO delivers exactly what you paid for. My buddy & I decided to shoot to Las Vegas for a last minute trip - we grabbed our overnight bags, a jug of Captain & jumped on the road FAST! While hopping between cellphone towers & dead spots, in a high speed race across the barren desert to make it to Vegas by midnight on a busy weekend, we could only find 1 Hotel & Casino with available rooms...LUCKY CLUB...NEVER heard of it! It's in NORTH Vegas...at least its "Vegas" right?...uh, it's a pretty shady part of town, with abandon buildings & sketchy transactions going down off the Casino/Hotel premises. BUT the Casino/hotel property is crawling with a militia of uniformed armed security guards; I had fond memories of my summer in Kabul. Security was on patrol in fire team size elements all over the casino & parking lot. It felt VERY SAFE! Although the patrons were a motley bunch, I DID NOT once fear that I would be shanked during my stay. Everyone was super nice. Free Parking was easy (we could see our car from the room). The security guard platoon was helpful, smiling & highly tactical. The check-in girls were great. We darted up to our room, which for well under $100 a night...was exactly what we paid for. I didn't have my portable black-light but it seemed clean enough for the price. We showered up & kicked-off pre-flighting at Lucky Club's $3 blackjack tables. We did well at the tables & made friends with the other players, attractive female dealers & pretty waitresses while warming up to hit the strip! Excited, we cashed-out our winnings, made a few money movie quotes & b-lined to get a cab...we kicked open the front door to find what chariot awaited 2 high rollers like us &....Uh...silence...the cab stand was desolate besides the wisping sound of tumbleweeds billowing by in the breeze! The locked & loaded sentry on post at the front door told us he'd call us a cab but there is a 45 minute up to 2 hour wait for taxis! AHHHHHHHHH!!! He directed us to the bar & said he'd grab us when the cab arrived. Roger that! We headed back in towards the bar. The bartender was a cutie & very friendly. To drink free, we each stuck $20 in the bar video poker machines. My poker machine broke & a security guard...not a tech...tried to fix it for me...nice dude, but he couldn't seem to get the video poker machine running no matter how many times he hit it with an open fist...I recommended he use his night stick or perhaps give the video poker machine a jump with his taser. After coming close to pistol whipping my broken video poker machine & about 30min of free drinks at the bar, the warrior guarding the front door yelled to us, across the entire casino, like a Spartan, that our taxi was here! Once being ordered to the cab, we took care of the bartender & jumped in the cab! I don't remember much after that till waking up the next day sometime in the afternoon in my queen size, fairly comfortable, bed. The 2nd night, to avoid the whole taxi cab debacle, I just drove & we planned on taxiing back & grabbing the car the next day. That night went the same way, the next day we checked out with no issues. I wish I saw the pool/gym it would have been fairly comical! CONS: I'd like to say, we were happy with our stay. We got exactly what we paid for. A few things. There is no fridge, no safe & no mini bar in the room (ice, vending machines, bars & restaurants are available). We stayed 2 nights but they only gave us 1 free meal ticket for 1 person?! After a few drinks the food was good. Bring extra cologne/perfume, you will smell like an ashtray after strutting through the casino. But hey, its Vegas not Disneyland. It took forever for the cabs to get there, the cab ride costing $35 1-way ($70 round trip) to the strip & the cabbies didn't know what the place was when we were trying to get home! They thought it was a Gentlemen's Club! The name "Lucky Club" does sound like a Nudie bar in Bangkok! I can't blame them. We asked the front desk if they had a shuttle to the strip and the only shuttle they had was to & from the TRUCK STOP! PROS: We had fun at Lucky Club. My buddy wanted a souvenir T-shirt, because rocking a Lucky Club shirt was pretty funny. LUCKY CLUB tshirts were $5 each! You cannot find a Vegas souvenir for $5! He ended up getting Lucky Club Tee-shirts for all his employees! Free close to room parking. Pet friendly & PETS STAY FREE; they even have a dog park. Had I known that, I would have brought my dog along. We took a lot of memorable Lucky Club photos. Sharing a smoke with the uniformed waitresses, dealers & combat ready security on their break outside the front entrance was also cracking me up! Everyone was really, really, really nice. I'm always down for an adventure! An experience for the record books! I enjoyed it!...Oh, & another upside was, I practiced my EspaƱol! My junior high school Spanish teacher would be proud, it came right back! I do recommend Lucky Club Casino and Hotel.
