Since I've relocated from Los Angeles, finding good sushi places has been a task. I took it upon my fellow yelpers to find this place and I was happy that I did. I was planning on going to Ra or Stingray, though I knew it would be mediocre, before finding this place on Yelp.
So we get there day after Christmas with no reservation at around 6:20pm. Why would we need one it shouldn't be that busy, right? Wow we were wrong. The wait was going to be 50-1 hr for 2 and it was only for the sushi bar. So we decided to wait. (I needed my sushi fix)
There was no place to really wait except for outside. There was no bar, the restaurant was small so we couldn't wait inside, and placed in a strip mall with nothing much around. We walked to a small Mexican cafe located in the same area for some drinks while we waited. (back in 40 mins since there was no other methods of letting us know that our table was ready)
Finally we get seated at the sushi bar. We ordered several pieces of nigiri (toro, sweet raw shrimp with fried shrimp head, scallop, uni, hokkigai) and one maki of spicy yellow tail. That was delicious. Maybe it was because I haven't had sushi in such a long time but everything that I had was pretty tasty. The only thing that I could done without was the salmon collar. It was greasy and had a little gelatinous taste for me on some parts but my husband enjoyed it so that's all that matters.
The severs were great and attentive. Place was cozy and had a warm feel to it and prices weren't too bad. 4 stars for the wait and the so so salmon collar.
I will be back most definitely and maybe it will be 5 stars.
