| - My friends and I stayed here while attending a convention at the nearby Gila River Arena. This Holiday Inn is just down the street from the arena so it was great. My friends and I had initially thought we would walk to the arena but once we found out parking was only $5 we drove there. Such a quick drive there and back! So if you are visiting the arena, this Holiday Inn is definitely very conveniently situatied nearby. They also have plenty of parking, as well as a rear entrance (once you have your key card) that you can use if you park closer to the back than the front.
Our room had two queen beds and was quite clean. Multiple towels, some bathroom amenities, and a coffee maker are all already prepared in the room. Since we were both feeling under the weather we used the coffee maker for hot water instead of coffee ;) The TV quality was not very great--a lot of the channels had lines running through them and the colours were off, but it didn't bother us too much. What did bother us was the thermostat/fan. For one thing, I don't think they are connected to each other. But the fan controls also don't work. No matter what we couldn't change the temperature, the level, fan to heat, anything! We ended up just unplugging the fan for most of our stay and briefly plugging it back in whenever we felt like we needed some air.
Every morning the hotel offers complimentary breakfast. It is on the ground level, just across from the front desk reception. Their normal offerings include scrambled eggs, egg white omelets, sausages, cereal, pancakes (that you make yourself), bagels, and various juices. On the weekends I saw cinnamon rolls. And on the weekday I saw mini bananas. Despite the fact that I partook in the complimentary breakfast every day, I was definitely not a fan of it. I thought scrambled eggs couldn't get messed up by anyone... well, the scrambled eggs here are pretty bad. The food quality is general is pretty poor to mediocre. The best thing is the cereal, which they obviously don't actually make :P But it's free and it's still (edible) food so... I have to be grateful that they offer it.
It was a decent hotel for the three nights that we needed to be in Glendale, so it gets an A-OK from me.
