| - Let me start by saying that I am a huge fan of Stoney's and always have a great time. This review is just about this one experience.
I am an independent VIP host and assist clients with their needs whenever they come to vegas. for the first time EVER, i had a client ask me which country bar they should go to for some beers and whiskey. They had told me that they were thinking of doing Toby Keith's bar at Harrahs and being that I love Stoney's, I replied with high recommendation that they check out Stoney's instead. To my surprise, the group asked me to book them bottle service or see how it was to get 28 guys into the bar and what kind of setup we could arrange.
I don't know anyone that works there, so I called the main line and asked to speak with someone in group sales. I explained my group and their desire to check out the bar, and she referred me to Matt Maheras, the bar's VIP Host (which I never knew they had). Long story short, I received the info on cost from Matt, called him back the next day to book, and we booked the area called "The Chute", and everything seemed to be fine. In fact, his last text to me prior to the day of the event was "I will make sure everything will get taken care of."
The night of, I text him that we were on the way and he confirmed "I have the private area ready to go." I arrived about 10 minutes before the group and so he proceeded to show me the area...which wasn't the same area he sold me on. He promised me the Chute, the area in the bar next to the DJ booth, overlooking the dancefloor, right in the middle of the club. This is also what my client wanted and specifically said he DIDN'T want to reserve an area away from everything, in the back of the club. I was escorted to a small room immediately near the entrance of the club, behind everything, off to the side and located at the "back" of the room.
I explained to Matt that this was EXACTLY what my client DIDN'T WANT, and his reply was that I took too long to call him back (we booked it on Tuesday for Friday) and he said that there was nothing he could do. I asked him why he didn't just communicate it to me, and he said that it was my fault. I asked to speak with his manager, and he said that he was the VIP manager. He said the only person above him, was Mr. Stoney himself and that I could wait around for 20 minutes to speak with him if I wanted.
My client arrived, cancelled the area as it wasn't what we were sold on, and they went in General admission.
Later that night, Matt approached my client and apologized, but also bad-mouthed me and said that this is why he doesn't like Independent Hosts...that we don't get the job done...and that he prefers to not work with "them", but the client directly.
So not only did Matt not provide VIP service to us, as the guests, but he also bad-mouthed me even though I steered my clients from Toby Keith's, to Stoney's and HE was the one that actually didn't follow through with what was promised. He also did not communicate with us prior to arriving that the area he sold to us was now unavailable, and he didn't apologize to me for the mix-up, but proceeded to disrespect me in front of my customer.
Bad business, all around. I will never book another table at Stoney's as long as he's there. It makes no sense to do so with customer service like that.
