  • The dying art of neon is enthusiastically celebrated at this quirky, outdoor museum arranged over six acres, just minutes from the strip. We booked our tour a few days in advance, online, and were pleased to take advantage of the Nevada resident discount. What we didn't realize was, this is a guided tour that does not allow video recording or straying from the group to take photos. In fact, capturing cool photos without strangers in them proved to be somewhat of a difficult task. Our guide was adorable and enthusiastic, but frankly, not many people were listening to her history speech, as they were frantically snapping selfies and instagram shots before the tour moved on to the next section. It was mid October and HOT! The signs are arranged in tight alleyways and attract heat throughout the day, so our 1pm tour was a total scorcher. Nearly everyone in the small group of ten or so opted to carry the parasols provided at check-in. It gets so hot mid-day during the summer they actually aren't able to provide tours for many hours of the day. Many of the signs light up at night, so an evening tour later in the fall is something I really look forward to doing! Overall, this was really fun! Despite the heat, the history lesson was actually pretty cool. Las Vegas is home to many fascinating stories and it was really neat to see all of the treasures they've preserved.
