I brought in the color I wanted. A warm copper color.
I left with dark green hair.
The instructor formulated and I don't know if she checked the formula. I said I wanted my hair lighter so I would be able to darken if needed but as my worst case scenario presented they offered to do a bleach shampoo and redo the same color they just applied? Wtf? Obviously that wasn't the right color?? I went to Sallys and even the girl there said when you go from blonde to brown you have to use a red filler or warm it up a bit. I needed to put red over it to correct it, on my own. I asked Aveda if they could tone it more red and the instructor Jen said "huh? we didn't put a toner on you?" Halfway through the coloring process she mentions in passing to the student that she should use some filler on my color so that the color processes evenly. Maybe mention that before the student got started? Also she rubbed the color into my processed, blonde ends. Probably should know not to do that since that color picks up the most. I have darker green ends. I will upload a photo of what I asked for and what I got. My regular stylist ( in another state) said I need a color correction after what I got at Aveda. The instructor should have been more cautious and knowledgable about color than she seemed. She should have known to put a warmer color on and that the color you pick isn't the color it's going to come out as when you factor in the person's original color. Also, they lifted my root color... I went in to match my hair to ombre extensions.... if I wanted lighter roots, I wouldn't be going with an ombre color. They didn't ask what I wanted, I even said that I didn't want to lift my natural color but wanted a graduated color. now I'm lighter at the root and darker at the ends... a reverse ombre of sorts. Total Fail. And when I left Aveda charged me more than I thought... I never asked for the root lift... Just to darken the ends and they knew I was unhappy and charged me for what they decided I needed I guess and I walked out unhappy, unsatisfied, and poorer - with green hair. I think had another instructor been more careful about looking over what she was doing that I might have had a better outcome... when I asked how long I was leaving the color on she said "as I said 10 minutes." I hadn't heard her say that but that seemed too long. I told the student I wanted to rinse it off earlier and she never told this to the instructor apparently. Also, when I went in another student who I thought was an instructor because of the fact she came over to consult... I started telling her what I wanted come to find out it was only a student. Kind of annoying.
