  • I have bought a few cars from Car Max. It was a huge relief to deal with them after getting ripped off by so many regular car dealerships. There is a reason car salesmen have such a bad reputation-- they lie and use horrible sales tactics like making you wait around while they claim they are talking to their manager to get you a better deal. They waste your whole day and make you so uncomfortable that you'd pay anything just to get out of there and move on with your life. It's really terrible. I don't know how those guys can sleep at night. They're total con men. After a couple good experiences at Car Max, I forgot how awful those dealerships were and I stupidly bought a car from a dealership instead of Car Max. Of course, I got ripped off again as they added so many extra charges at the end. Then the Toyota Financial Services company was another nightmare-- never sending bills on time and then trying to charge me late fees. I spent so much time on the phone with them, it was ridiculous. A few weeks ago I bought another car from Car Max and the experience was so easy and there was nothing shady and there were no extra mystery charges tacked on at the end. They are just straight-forward and super nice. They also have such a huge inventory and searching online is so convenient. I won't ever stray from Car Max again. I just love them (and I prefer to genuinely get a good deal and not get ripped off, thank you very much).
