| - Terrible Customer Service! You can make a mistake, it's how you handle it that counts.
I'm currently sitting at Pearson with an extra 3.5 hours on my hands due to my delayed flight. This 3.5 hour delay will mean that I miss the concert/bday celebration my friends were planning for me in Columbus. Look I'm a frequent traveler, I completely understand that things happen delays can occur.... but a 3.5 hour delay due to Mechanical issues the Airline needs to take some ownership for.
The first 4 people I speak to at the airport offer to fly me to Cleveland arriving at approximately 6:30pm, but then I have to rent a car and make a 2+ hour drive so not really a solution to my problem. Once I advise them of this the response proceeds to be them shoving a business card in my face with the information for "Customer Relations" no sorry, no apology for the inconvenience, not empathy for my situation (ironically the complete opposite of what "Canada" is known for).
I pass another customer service desk, and try again. I speak with a guy named Dennis who is apologetic that I'm dealing with this, and that the best he can do is a meal voucher (for $10 CAD... this will barely buy a bottle of water at Pearson let alone a meal) and hand me yet again the aforementioned "Customer Relations" card.
So I find a seat and call Customer Relations where I'm advised... sorry no way to get their sooner, no I cannot give you a flight credit, no flight voucher, no credit of miles, and nope "this company does not offer upgrades for compensation" if you really want any assistance you'll have to find a supervisor at the airport and speak with them. So sent BACK to the same group I started with that pointed me to Customer Relations.
All in all I've learned if you choose Air Canada and things don't go perfectly it's not their problem so don't try and ask them to make it right because well that's no one's job.
