| - I came here once for a public skating session on a Wednesday evening while working in the area. I'd just started getting into my figure skating lessons and didn't want to forget too much while I was out of town. Thankfully, this rink was not too far of a drive from where I was working/staying.
The sports center is huge, with a good-sized parking lot that had plenty of spots available when I arrived. The lady at the front desk was friendly and patient. Admission was $7. There were a few small coin-operated lockers ($0.50 per use, quarters accepted only), which were located right outside the rink and were a bit hard to find--I didn't even see them until another skater was kind enough to point them out to me. However, they worked fine and were sufficiently large to store a purse and some boots.
The signage for which rink the public session took place in wasn't too clear, but I guessed which rink it was and wound up being right. The public session was scheduled right after some classes; the ice was not zambonied between the classes and the public session, so the ice was rather choppy. The session was a lot more crowded than a weeknight session back at my regular rink (in Maryland) would have been; probably skating is just a lot more popular in this area. The session was popular with children, and some very young kids were skating around with plastic walkers, which I'd heard of but never actually seen before. Some of the kids were playing tag, which was annoying, but didn't seem overly dangerous.
The facilities seemed reasonably clean and definitely had more amenities than the rinks I'm used to back home. Although I only saw 1 of the rinks, the center has at least 1 other rink and as well as a golf center. Overall, a pretty neat place, and I was glad there was somewhere I could practice skating away from home.
