  • This company has been absolutely horrible.. I had paid another company a large amount to come out and do nothing except put the door back on the track. I realized that company was a scam and *thought* I had fixed the problem after I paid A1 over $700 to later came out and replace almost all the parts to my garage door with the exception of the track itself and the operator. However, the garage door has never worked properly since the install even though I've called A-1 back out several times and paid for a pricey warranty. My garage door is semi unique in that the first three panels of the door are parallel, but the bottom of the door has been cut to match the existing slope of the concrete pads of my garage. Half of my garage was an original carport and is level with the finished floor of my house while the second half was an addition that slopes down approximately 3". The bottom of my garage door is cut to match this difference in height so one side is 3" lower than the other. After 3 months of calling A-1 out multiple times my garage door still does not operate correctly. This past week a technician and a "manager" came out and verified that my door was level but the bottom of the door was sloped to match the floor of my garage. A technician came out Wednesday and pointed out that one of my two cables was extremely loose when my door was up and it was "dangerous" (his words). A "manager" came out (and I use "manager" in quotations because over the course of multiple calls over a couple days I have never spoken to the same "manager" more than one time). The "manager" confirmed a few things.. 1) my door was level and the bottom panel was cut to match the slope of my concrete pad. 2) the wheels are supposed to align at every hinge point, but since my door is custom cut, the wheels are now sitting 3" apart to match the slope of my concrete pad. The "manager" said if it were it were up to him, he'd align the two wheels and have one of them sitting approximately 3" off the ground on the lower side to match the other wheel. Then he pointed out that at one point the wheels were aligned as he was suggesting. 3) they confirmed that one of my tracks sat approximately 1" higher than the other. And 4) one of my cables was extremely loose when the door was pulled up even though A-1 recently replaced my roller, spring and wheels, which implies they would have set the tension in each cable and not left it dangling before they left when it was originally installed. They ended up leaving my house with the cable dangling, and after pointing out all of the flaws in the track and placement of the wheels they claimed that it was the fault of my operator. However this operator had been working properly until recently and still will lift and close the door but just gets pulled off track. Regardless, A-1 replaced the spring and rollers and set the tension in the cable, but my assumption is they put the bottom wheels in the wrong location which has thrown my track off and left the cable completely loose. I am hoping to edit my response to show photo evidence of how badly the cable is dangling. Also along the course of me fighting this over the last few months, the first two technicians have left the company. The last technician told me the company doesn't care for its employees and he's planning on going back to his own business soon. And lastly, you cannot get through to anyone without going through a call center, and over the past few days I haven't been able to speak to the same "manager" twice so I have serious questions about how this company operates. I am beyond frustrated with the service and there is no excuse for them to have left my door in the condition they did especially as I said I paid a pricey warranty for these items.
