  • SOMA is located in the ever-so-expensive and ridiculously overpriced Distillery District. I've been here multiple times and tried an assortment of their truffles, and while they ARE good, they don't blow my socks off. Their chocolates are definitely something to be savoured as opposed to devouring like your cheap-o store-bought Kit Kat Bar. So enjoy them very slowly as the dollar signs go ka-ching with every bite. My favourite chocolatier in town is still Laura Slack. While everyone RAVES about their hot chocolate I didn't think it was all that. I opted for the Spicy Mayan Hot Chocolate with Milk (who gets hot chocolate with water - seriously?) and there wasn't much chocolate flavour. They should've just called it Spicy Mayan (sans the chocolate part). Definitely doesn't hold a flame to the drinking chocolate in Paris! And for $4.19 all in - I think a Starbucks frappuccino offers more flavour for the buck. Other than their chocolate truffles I highly encourage you to try their gelato (which come in a range of amazing flavours). Come for the chocolate truffles and gelato - skip the hot chocolate!
